Patsy O’Brien in Concert

March 2 @ 8:00 pm

Patsy has traversed the globe, guitar in hand, accompanying, creating and recording with some of the giants of Irish music.
Hailing from Cork in the south of Ireland, award-winning songwriter and much sought-after guitarist Patsy O’Brien is renowned for his ability to meld songwriting and guitar styles seamlessly.
Concert Review: “Wow wow WOW…. Patsy played last night at the Coaldale Schoolhouse and it was literally one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. What an engaging performer he is on top of his wonderful songwriting and knock-your-socks-off guitar playing…. experiences like these are rare–this may sound like hype but this is the real deal.”
There will also be a short front set performed by Paul Garding and Deborah Martin.
Deborah and Paul were in the Irish band Barra for many years. After the band they still play occasional duet performances for community events.
Deborah Martin focuses on playing the traditional tunes of Ireland on the the fiddle. These tunes are often hundreds of years old and have been passed down from one generation to another. She also learns tunes that have been written by greats such as Sean Ryan and Ed Reavy.
Paul Garding has been laying a solid foundation through his guitar playing ever since Barra began. He is also a fine singer, delighting his fans with songs from the Irish, Scottish, Canadian, and American traditions. Among his credits is a performance with Uillean piper Paddy Keenan at the Winnipeg Folk Festival in 2005.
