Shanties with Sean Dagher

A very special event for our singing community: a performance at the Dubliner from shantyman Sean Dagher. If you’re in the younger crowd and learned your shanties from video games like “Assassin’s Creed,” then you learned them from Sean, who sang “Randy Dandy-O,” “Leave Her, Johnny,” “Drunken Sailor,” and many others for the soundtrack. His renditions of songs from the games have been streamed some 70 million times, and his “Shanty of the Week” video series gets thousands of views a week and has a worldwide following. Sean also tours with the band Skye Consort, which will be playing the Celtic Junction (just a few blocks north of the Dub) at 7:30 pm on Friday the 25th (go to https://celticjunction.org/events/skye-consort/ for tickets). He also contacted Doug in hopes of playing the Dub, and Doug talked to Larry, who set up a gig for Sean (thank you, Larry!). Sean will be playing a set the afternoon of Saturday the 26th from 4:00 to 5:15 – but knowing us, we’ll keep singing long after the “official” set is done (in the pub or out on the patio). So come and help us raise the roof with Sean!
